How many Asparagus crowns

How many Asparagus crowns would you clever people advise planting for a family of two Asparagus eaters please? Greedy eaters so perhaps we should say 3 people and what space would you allow? Thank you.

We have a 5 x 1 metre Asparagus bed at our allotment.  There are just two of us, and we have planted 20 plants, two different varieties.  They are planted in two rows of 10,

We haven't yet begun to crop them, as they are only in their second year, so it's hard to know if they are enough for two or not.

It's not a science, someone else on here will probably give you a totally different answer.

Gosh, @KeenOnGreen, I've only planted 6 for the two of us but that's because it's dictated by our available space. Mine's only in their 2nd year as well so it will be good to compare notes next year.
I previously had just 4 plants in a kind of raised bed effort (a builders crate with a builders bag inside it).  We usually had to choose which of us would have the one or two available spears at any one time. I was never quite sure just how many spears one mature plant is supposed to produce. My proudly bought special asparagus kettle hasn't had much use!

Ours are 4 or 5 years old and I get 4 to 6 spears a day

No shortage of space at our allotment @Lizzie27   That's our Asparagus bed on the bottom left of the photo.  I suspect we'll be running out of Asparagus recipes before we know it.  We might cut one or two spears this year, just to see what each variety tastes like.

In 1978 we planted out crowns and for many years we had excellent harvest.
    Then we lost them.
Gave up for some years and tried again.
    Nothing so successful.
Brilliant that so many others are having such a great harvest.
Wonderful crop to pick from your own garden.
