Tomatoes

Is it too early to pot my tomatoes in to bigger pots and put them outside now? Or is it too cold still?

Depends on what temperatures you have,  it needs to be reliably in mid double figures 15-16 C .

It's the night time temps which are the main problem. They need reliable double figures overnight.
Very few places are warm enough just now. Maybe in the far south, and/or with very sheltered urban gardens.
Better to wait a couple of weeks.  :)

Am in the cosy warm SE and they haven't even seen the great outdoors yet, they gone from kitchen window sill to conservatory to frost free green house
  • I am growing two types of tomotoes. Can someone tell me the best potting mix for indoor tomatoes. I plan to grow three in a large trough with bottomless pots to raise the soil height.
  • Intrepidvegpatch, compost for tomato plants I usually buy a tomato grow bag, open it up and use the compost from it. My though is it must be the right mix because it’s sold as a grow bag for tomato’s

Any MPC is fine for them.
It would be easier to just grow them in decent sized pots instead of putting pots in a trough.  :)

I always fill my 20 litre pots with Levenson grow bag compost and they seem to do well.
