1, Geographical location  - Orkneys or Channel Islands?
2. Situation - sunny or shady.
3. Type of soil - clay, loam or sand? Sorry but you really must know this. Ask me for a quick easy test.
4. Chemical composition of soil ? Acid or alkaline?  Ask me for more details on this. [email protected].
5. Photo, if related to a specific plant.

Sorry, but I will not respond to further enquiries that provide insufficient information.

  • Not responding is your decision, why are you telling us? Just read and pass on.

I jst thought it was the type of post that didn't require a fast answer but was important generally. Have you had Covid? Pass on asshole.

  • No Covid. Extremely rude calling me names, not tolerated on this site. Pass on yourself.

I was just trying to be helpful, no intention to be "teachy". I would like to try and answer more questions, but sometimes it is difficult.

  • I usually only comment on things I have experience of eg cutting a shrub or digging up a plant. I read loads but rarely respond.

Maybe not the best idea to put up your private email address? Especially when you then go on to be rude and insulting?

I wonder what a good answer is. It so depends on the audience, the purpose and the background. Why has my computer stopped? You forgot to charge it up. Have I downloaded a hidden virus? That's a bit more complicated. Not every gardener is or wants to be a scientist or an expert, they just want to enjoy themselves. Courtesy, however, is always the best start and finish.

Many new gardeners who pose queries on this forum don't always know what info to include in their first posts.
It is simple enough for others to suggest that more info is needed in order to get a useful response and specify what info would be helpful.
As far as I can see, the OP's either respond with as much extra info as possible - thereby eliciting good advice or they do not respond at all.
It is the OP's choice whether they care to continue with the subject or not - happily most of them do :)
