flowering quince doesn't grow

Hi!
I am new here! I live in the south of Greece and I maybe have a problem with a Flowering quince. I planted an one year old plant in my garden at November. After a month or two it started flowering and at the end of February when the flowers had already fallen started giving tine leaves. These ones fell after a while. Since then there is no growing sign . It has two branches one of them is dead but the other one is green and seems nice. The plant is in full sun(here there is plenty of sun throughout the day) and the soil is nice and moist. I have never planted Flowering Quince before so I don't know if there is a problem or if I should wait more.
Thank you!

Hello, that is odd, you'd think that if the plant had both sunshine and moisture at the roots it would do well. Have you fed it at all?  I would be inclined to clear away all those seedheads? from around it and give it some liquid fertiliser if you have some. Then it's a case of wait and see.  Do flowering quinces grow well in your area?

  • Hi!
    thank you for answering!
The plant is already dead. The roots were rotten :-(
I asked a professional gardener who lives here and told me that when the plant hasn't leaves and is struggling to produce new you immediately stop watering until you see growing signs. When it doesn't have leaves the root system (if alive) rots because the plant can't recycle the water!
