Too many fruit trees in a small area .

I was looking for a bit of advice. We have recently moved to a new house and the previous owners have planted 5 fruit trees in a rather all area of the garden. There are three plum trees one of which is mature, a pear tree and a dessert apple tree ( looks fairly young ). We are wanting to remove some of them but not sure if we should remove the younger ones or the mature one . We would like to keep as much as we can to encourage nature . Any advice is much appreciated.
Thank you .

A photo showing spacing and tree size would help.
  • Why not just prune them so they take up less space? Also a photo would make any advice more relevant.

Sorry not the best photo . There are two trees behind the mature plum and then two more set back slightly.

Are you wanting to harvest the fruit? Or are you removing because you don't like how it looks?

Other than the strange lean/pruning - I don't think it looks too bad. Great cover for the birds and I bet the mix of early blossom is good for pollinators.

It also rather depends on the rootstocks used as they will control the potential size of the trees.

Thank you guys for your advice. We're going to prune them back after they've finished fruiting and see how it looks then. Just didn't want them to be over crowded . Thanks again.
