    It must depend where it is ... my Sweet Kate doesn't seed around the place ... wish it did ... but thankfully the clump does increase gradually in size.

    Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.

    Yes tradescantia ... love it ever since I first inherited a clump in a new garden in Suffolk. 

    Now we have the glorious golden leaved form 'Sweet Kate' ... just waiting for her to come into flower.  Named for another Suffolk gardener  ;) John Tradescant

    Just had a read of the wiki link. What a guy! Really interesting. How I would love to travel the world collecting plants! Thanks for sharing. 

    And thanks everyone for helping to solve the mystery. It’s very pretty and I have some space to fill so hope it will self seed.
