I’m New!! Help with Magnolia tree

Hiya!
I’m new to all this but enjoy gardening. We’ve moved into a home with a recently planted dwarf magnolia or what I think it is. It’s got one very long branch. Do I need to cut this down? It looks like a branch has since been broken and that’s why it looks very tall.  Any advice hugely welcome!

I don’t think I’d prune it ... at least not at this stage ... magnolias are usually good at growing into an elegant shape without much interference from us.

Have you any idea of the variety? Some magnolias can grow quite large and there’s not a lot of space there ...

Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.

Although an upright variety it can reach 3mt in 10 years,I would think Apart from that it's roots don't have enough room there

You could maybe think about removing the laurel immediately next to it, to give more room, and reduce competition for water etc. It might also be worthwhile checking the ties aren't strangling it.
