I sowed mine on the windowsill in late March and they're still there, happily sitting in their pots. I don't prick them out individually, I just leave half a dozen per pot and pinch them out whenever I pick some.
I'm going to sow some more this week to plant out with my tomatoes.
They don’t like being pricked out, sow a pot full and when they’re well grown tip the whole thing out and dived into 3 or 4, then pot up in the chunks.
Gardening on the wild, windy west side of Dartmoor.
Hi All. Thanks for the feedback. They were grown on a windowsill. Then I pricked out and planted 5 in a clay pot. Then I put them under a grow light in the garage. That was only Bank Holiday Monday and the temperatures here since then have not been that bad. They look as though I have not watered them. I am at a loss, I bet Monty Don doesn't have this problem. Maybe I will try again.
You need to do as Lyn and myself have indicated - don't prick out into individual seedlings. The main mistake is putting them out in a garage at the start of May though. Far too cold for them. They can cope with regular watering but they need warmth more than anything. They're Mediterranean plants. Sow more now indoors and be patient with them
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
