Cucumber plants

Hello,
This year I decided to try my first cucmber plants from seed, and they were growing well, yet last week one of them shrivelled at the base and died.
My second one has now began to do the same thing.
Does anyone know what is causing this to happen and if there is any way I can save the plant?
Thank you

Alsi, it has been keep in the greenhouse up until this point, and I have kept up with watering it. Wondering whether the heat damaged it?

Most likely overwatering and the change in temperature of the soil in the pot.  It's known as cucurbit basal stem rot and is caused by organisms in the soil which can infect the tissue under certain growing conditions.  This is a bit technical, but may help:

Thank you @BobTheGardener this looks like what has happened! I will have to be more careful next time, I hadn't ever heard of this before! :)

It's very common and most annoying @LaurenMay !
I had it the year before last and lost several of my plants, but luckily I had some extras so had a couple survive and grow.  I've tried a few different methods of prevention over the years, and plant them on small mounds to try and keep the base of the stem dry, but I always grow more than I need now, just in case.
