Amelanchier damage - when to prune affected branches?

Hello All,

My tree is a Lamarckii and seems pretty healthy and happy, overall: it has loads of new leaves, is covered in developing berries and was an explosion of flowers back in April.

However, on inspection today I noticed that about 5 of the lowermost branches and often the distal parts, are greyish and look dead. They’re devoid of leaves, some of the small, new leaves are shrivelled and brown, and the few old flowers on those branches have shrivelled and not developed into new berries.

I’ve had a good look at the rest of the tree and it has new growth from the base, there are no signs of canker that I can see, nor any visible pests.

Could it be frost damage?
We had some very sharp frosts right up into late April, even though I’m in London.

Also, should I leave pruning of the damaged bits until next year now? I think I read somewhere that amelanchier should only be pruned in late Winter / early Spring.

Dont want to get it wrong! Very fond of my little tree.

For the record, it gets loads of sun, has very good soil and has been watered a lot since Autumn 2019, when I planted it.
It has never been water stressed.

Can you add a few pictures of affected areas to help with any advice?

    Shall do tomorrow!
I totally missed your response, sorry.
Its looking good everywhere else though, so I’m guessing it is frost damage from back in April, as those bits of branch are now grey and deader than dead, whereas the rest of the tree is in full swing.
