Dahlias just in GH for one night - now being eaten- BEER TRAP ?

I have my tiny GH on paving slabs, not much space but my seed Dahlias now have bite marks in them - they are in small pots on the ground as I don't have much space for staging ( plan to grow tall tenders in there) -Would a beer trap work ? I know you have to make them deep and dig them into the beds- but in the greenhouse - in a shallow Tupperware - would that work ?or would they climb out ?

I would hang them from the roof if you can.

Yes but wouldn't a beer trap be more humane?

You could try using pot saucers if you have any. I think the smell of beer attracts them like nobody's business, disposing of the remains is a bit yucky, but if it saves the plants...

I’m quite ruthless I have been tending these Dahlias and I will be persistent in my quest to look after them . Will slugs drown in the saucer or beer or just get even more legless than they already are ???

My slugs just party in the beer, drink their fill and slide off. Better to get the seedlings out of the way, up, if you can.

Generally l have found that they drown, but a deep container is best as they get even more legless and find it really difficult to climb out.
Got to be worth a try.

ok I tried and I made a trap like this for the bed and left a yogurt pot of beer in the GH and moved everything off the floor
