Bamboo

My potted bamboo has browning leaves all over and not sure if the cold Scottish spring is taking its toll. Should I prune it or change pot size?

    Sounds like it's dried out. 
    Desiccating winds are often the problem, not just lack of water.

    Thanks, yep could be as it has been a bit battered. To prune or not to prune back?

    I'd leave it until it comes into growth again. 
    If it still looks bad, cut it then, but give it a chance.

    My bamboos have browned tips and leaves every spring - from cold and strong winds. I prune them in spring, like a hedge. Although I mostly do that to keep them small.

    I planted Phyllostachys aurea bamboos at the end of April. They now all have a lot of leaves which have dried out tips that then drop. I live in Kent with a chalky seoil and the aspect is South facing. Have I been watering too much or is the soil unsuitable? I have a Hydrangea planted next to it
