Unhappy eucalyptus?

Hello,
We bought a baby blue eucalyptus tree two weeks ago. The branches seem to be drooping and I'm not sure why.

The soil is moist from recent rain still, but it's not sitting in water. It gets about two hours of direct sun and five of indirect.
We live in Japan, and we're suddenly getting two days' of summer weather - 25C and up. It'll be cooler tomorrow.

Is the container too small? I read orange-ish red bark is a sign of disease. Is it just the sudden temperature flux?

Yes, the container is much too small. These things can grow into full size trees if you let them, they are not pot plants and are best planted in the ground.

Konnichiwa, would love to see the blossom, are you British ( hope it's not considered offensive asking you that!) You can keep them in pots, but yes they do need to be a lot bigger (says the woman with a full size eucalyptus! Assuming the summer temperature of -25 is a typo. You get Gardeners World all the way out there then

Where mine is planted it gets under several inches of water and is prunned once a month, which is weird, because we always associate them with Australia

Thank you for the information. Unfortunately, planting them in the ground is not an option.

    Hello!
I'm an American living in Japan.

    Here are the blossoms.

When should I repot it, do you think?

Assuming its Eucalyptus gunnii it will need a bigger pot. This variety hails from Tasmania, has a high water demand and likes a moist but fairly well drained soil. It will take some drought but not for long. Rain water is best. You can prune it hard if you wish, it will actually regrow from a small stump.

    Hello!
Thank you. We're about to enter the rainy season in Japan so I'm worried it'll get too much water.

When do you think I should repot it?

As soon as possible, not an "ENGLISHMAN IN NEW YORK" then, ours not potted full size takes up a huge amount of water to the cost of the shrubs near it

Ok, I'll repot it ASAP and give it water until the rainy season. Thank you!
