Dogwood tips turning black. Acer turning white.

The tips of my dogwoods have turned black, and the tips of my acer have turned white. How concerned should I be about this? Should I just prune the affected parts off or is there something more serious going on here?

Still unsure about the dogwood though.

Frost damage.

All our dogwoods have suffered really badly this year with frosts taking place for the whole of April and yesterday was the first time we didn't have one.

Then the forecast is again for cold weather.

However our superb acer in a pot outside did suffer but has come back and looks great.
