Rhododendron

WildlifeloverWildlifelover Posts: 380
Evening,

We have a Rhododendron germania which was in part shade but having reduced the height of some conifers, the rhododendron is now getting full sun (around 7 hours).

Will it do ok in full sun or should I try and relocate it?

Many thanks.

It says sun or shade here: https://www.rhododendrons.co.uk/rhododendron-germania/p1099 make sure you keep it well watered and see how it does through the season, should be getting ready to flower, better move it when dormant...but of course depends how mature it is. A larger specimen would be tricky to move.

Rather depends where you live and how hot it gets.

Make sure the root ball is kept cool.
Water it really well, then  cover it with a deep layer of composted bark,
being careful to keep bark away from the trunk.

Rhododendrons are very easily moved as the roots are so shallow.
Better to do it when weather cool/damp.

In East Yorkshire so not too balmy. The plant is mulched and is flowering ok at the moment. If it is suffering due to the increased sun, what signs should I look out for?

     Thanks.
