    As their name suggests they were plants of cornfields. To compete with the corn they grow tall and slender, so do best planted fairly close together with other plants that will help to support them and reduce the effect of the wind. :)

    I can't see why they wouldn't be OK in big pots. But I would support them - but then, EVERYTHING  in my garden blows over if it isn't staked.

    @Dovefromabove , why are so many photo's appearing sideways at the moment? It seems to be becoming a thing!

    There’s a glitch on the site @posy ... if the photos are in landscape format they upload the right way but if they’re in portrait format they tip themselves over into landscape 🙄 
    cropping a portrait format pic stops it happening,  so there is a workaround until it’s fixed, but that only helps if you know about it. 

    We’ll have to be kind and patient with new posters who can get a bit frustrated when trying to get it right. 😊

    Thanks so much everyone. It's my first time growing them (growing anything) so appreciate all your wisdom! I will go for it, I can't wait to see how they turn out!
