Potato problem

Hi folks,

My potatoes have developed some brown bits on the leaves, does anyone know what it is?

Hoping nothing serious!

Given the weather lately it looks like a wee bit of frost damage. Have you had any frost? They should recover ok. If you have anymore frost due I would cover them for the night or earth them up to stop it happening.

I agree ... that looks like weather damage of one sort or another ... late frosts, low night temperatures coupled with bright sunlight and drying winds during the day have been causing problems for unprotected tender plants this spring.

Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.

  • Thanks @Dovefromabove and @Emptyheadtime!

Yes it was a little frosty one night this week and I didn't manage to get them into the cold frame so that makes complete sense. They were fine before that.

Only some of the leaves have damage on them so hopefully it has less impact!

Good to know what it is and that it's not a disease.
