Stunted Veg

Hello!

I am fairly new to Gardening/Veg etc and only been at it for a year or so since getting our own place.

Last year I built my own raised bed with multiple plots but I was donated established summer plants or bought them from the garden centre.

This year i'm growing everything from seed. I've got 3 tomato plants which look pretty healthy and are going in the ground on Saturday along with a couple of Butternut Squashes but i'm having a few issue elsewhere.

I think either my compost quality wasn't great or i've been over watering because I have one tomato plant that just won't dry out - the soil is completely soaked and today I attempted to repot it and unclog the root system as best I could.

I wondered how likely it is it will recover? It basically stopped growing after it's last re potting whilst it's brothers and sisters shot up like no tomorrow!

Also Cucumbers...I tried to start hardening these off but again I think I over watered and the leaves completely wilted. I picked the leaves off and have eased off the watering but again they haven't really grown since repotting( similar to tomato). Soil seems to have dried out a bit and i've put out in the sun today. Are these a lost cause?

Basically Tommy and the Cucumbers all look like healthy plants now but aren't growing. We have had a colder snap after that really hot week - can Veg stall and then kick on again when the conditions are right or should I start planting some back ups whilst I have time?

My other question is how early can I plant out Runner beans? Again - I have 2 that have shot up and I'm worried one in particular is a bit leggy - I'd say it's nearly 30cm high and I only planted it a few weeks ago!

I will attach some pictures from my phone if that helps.

Thanks!

No idea where you live but don't think anyone on the forum is planning on planting out any of them this week end. I'm in. very sheltered area in the UK not far from the sea,and I haven't even sowed mine yet
Forecast was frost last night ,( we didn't get one) and again tonight

Yep my tomatoes and cucumbers wont be planted out just yet. My cucumber has been sat on my window ledge indoors for now and my tomatoes only get outside for a few hours just now. I suggest keeping the stunted ones indoors for now and see if they recover, it may look sunny but there is a chill in the wind just now.

Thanks for your reply. Im down south in Surrey and have been checking forecasts and it looks like this saturday is when the nights stop dipping below 6 degrees and cooler. I was also worried about the toms getting too big for their pots but i suppose I could give them another repotting. I will reconsider - thanks.

Ok good to know, thanks for your reply. The stunted one I only put out in the day yesterday and the others have been outside in the day for about a week and brought inside at night except for the last few days where I have left them in the greenhouse at night time.

I will keep the cucumbers and the stunted tomatoes inside for another week then and reconsider planting the rest just yet. Thanks
