Greenhouse sheeting

A friend gave him his glass greenhouse free of charge however most of the glass is damaged and needs replacing.

I looked on ebay and they sell full spectrum plastic sheeting however when I messaged the retailer they told me it can only be used on polytunnels?

Is this true or is he wrong about this.

I ideally want to get everything setup for the lowest possible price and I thought the sheeting would be ideal but apparently it's only for polytunnels.

An alternative may be twin-walled polycarbonate sheeting
I think the plastic sheeting is something like thick cling-film which I imagine would tear and be blown out with a bit of wind. I'm not sure how you would attach it to a greenhouse anyway

Think if it's for glass you are going to have to put glass,Check out Freecycle, Facebook freebies, you may get some.  Maybe you could somehow attach polythene,in the same way we add bubble wrap for double glazing in winter.  Horticultural glass isn't that expensive, think of the money saved growing your own!

I agree with @Pete.8 and would use 4mm twinwall polycarbonate sheets.  They are available pre-cut to 2ft (610mm) wide and 4ft (1220cm) long (which is handy, as you can usually replace roof and side panels with one sheet rather than 2 panes of glass.)  About a fiver each if you look around.
