Lupin middle stem broken. Will it survive and flower this year ?

    I bought this online but the plant got damaged in the delivery. Any hope for this lupin ?

    It may do a side shoot but I would ask for a replacement.

    I agree. An established plant will recover but a tiny one like that probably won't.

    I agree too. Send them a picture of how it arrived and ask for a replacement (or refund if they've sold out). But keep the original one. It might not flower this year but it should be fine next year.

    The plant won’t die, I never let mine flower in the first year anyway, best to take the first flowering stems off so the plant can build up a good root system before it’s planted out.

    TBH when I've grown lupins from seed most of them haven't flowered until year 2 in any case, but I still wouldn't expect one that I'd paid good money for to arrive with its growing point snapped off like that.
