Planting a lavender hedge

I have planted a section of lavender hedging with 5 litre hidcote plants. I now need to plant the second section but am struggling to find the right size plants to match. I can find 5l hidcotes but instead of a single plug they are made up of 3 plugs growing together. Is this a good option and equivalent to a single 5l or is it better to just buy smaller individual plants and wait for them to catch up with the first section? Help please!

    I think I would choose to plant individual plants. 3 plugs would struggle as they grow bigger. Have you tried everywhere near you for the right size? I have grown a lavender hedge before and the plants eventually end up the same size, but for the next year or two they will be different sizes.

    Hidcote makes a good lavender hedge and I agree the smaller plants will catch up but you do need to separate them if you buy the ones with 3 in a pot.  You could pot them on and coddle them so they catch up a bit before being planted out.
