WHAT ARE THESE PLANTS?

Please can I get help identifying these plants.

The first one may be Leucothoe axillaris 'Curly Red' and the second one may be a Cistus.
A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.

I'd go with camelia for the second one.
The leaves are wrong for cistus.

Second one is a camellia, if the leaves and buds are anything to go by.
