Is it too late to start an asparagus bed and where to buy crowns from

also can you buy crowns that are more than 1 yr in order to
get a harvest sooner ???

    It's to late this year yes, asparagus is up by now even here. You can buy commercial crowns that are 2-3 years old and give a harvest the year they are planted but I'm not sure you are after 1000 crowns!
    You might find some in pots at the garden center at the moment
