Hello Helen, yes you could but then you would have to keep the growbag at a sensible temperature - around to 15C-20C min until they germinate. Once they reach a sensible size they need to be hardened off unless you are keeping them in a greenhouse where you would just need to wean them off the heat.
Just as easy to start them in pots which are more portable and easier to keep warm

Thanks I already have them in pots in greenhouse and they have just got their 2nd leaves. Can I transplant them into grow bag now as they are already hardened off??
The main problem you may encounter planting such small plants into a grow bag are that the tiny roots are going to sitting in a lot of wet and likely cold compost. You can if you must, but much preferable to pot them on until they have a bigger root system and its a bit warmer

I like my tomatoes to be at least 15cm tall before putting them in their final home. Between sprouting and then they should be potted on and buried up to the first leaf, this encourages root growth.
Idem/same idea @Pete.8 The reason they go from 2-leaf into a small pot to get to 4/6 leaf stage is that they are still babies and need to be kept warm. Like putting a baby of 6 months old into a double bed (if you put them into a grow bag - or garden).
Definitely shaking it all about here. I didn't get to check my top green house today,(2 hours sleep following my 2nd jab) just tettered out to help the old man put away the stuff hardening off by day. I've got the bigger tomatoes, various flowering plants I grew from seed, they were dry, wilted and hanging out of their pots, good job I checked, now, everything bubble wrapped and heater on. Drives me nuts this time of the year
