I'm looking at the two bosch shredders. Prefer weight and cost of the 2200 one but think I need the 25TC one. We've got a medium sized garden but a lot of trees. Having moved in early March this year we're still getting on top of things. Right now we're busy getting rid of an almost 5m conifer chopped down with hand tools only, proud of that 😆. With the other trees and shrubs cut back we're probably on our 50th tip visit, with three 272 litre waste bags per visit. Not full but full enough to be a struggle for two to carry. Possibly more visits too.
We're thinking it'll get a lot of use so I'm thinking don't scrimp on cost.
Would you people say the heavier 25 TC one would be better for us? We're tired of skip visits and shredded would mean less visits or mulched wood for borders or compost bins. We got 4 or 5 with the garden but we've not used them. Would shredded wood make good compost? What's the best use for the output of these things?
I've read a lot of posts from people with a lot of trees saying these things aren't worth it unless you get exp ones of petr ones. What's your views? Can I justify £400+ for the 25TC?

Essentially, you can use it as mulch but not as compost.
I got one for the same reason, and it basically compacts tree cuttings so you can fit them in the council garden waste bins.
I did leave some in bags over winter and used it as a mulch but that was just lack of time, and to boost somewhere I was laying wood chip down anyway.
I'm happy with my AXT 2200 which I've now had for a few months. The weight consideration came into it as explained earlier. I also have more "leafy" stuff these days and it shreds that beautifully as well as small branches, All I would say is that it depends on which you have more of - material to shred or bigger stuff to chip. Hope you get sorted
I put the shreddings from my 25TC into the compost bin and it rots down well along with all the grass clippings etc. to make a good compost in about a year. It's quiet in operation too which may be important if you have lots of shredding to do- it sounds rather like a cement mixer churning round

Finally cleared the conifer, last three or four bags full. Now it is tree cutting season so how much more to cut down? How much use will it get? £390 vs £190? Light or heavy duty?
I'm curious, how much use does your shredder get vs size of your garden / number of trees and shrubs?
Loppers, saws and clippers did for all we've done before. I've used my dad's before in his garden. I've got a lot more to cut than him but he had more hawt and blackthorn hedges. He used it a couple of times a year and didn't rate them. He got cheap which I used then got better. Not sure he kept it after moving. They're no good on thicker branches. More for shrubs, hedges and thinner branch ends I think. There's a lot of wrist sized branches on our last tree to come down. Too thick. How useful a tool are they?
Will the cheaper 2200 be any good? 90kg per hour vs 230kg per hour for the 25 TC. What does that actually mean or equate to?
Shredders in my opinion, are great if you're going to resuse what it shreds.
It's usefulness is dependent on individual circumstances, so I accept for some it's a handy tool.
I had one, given me by our son when he had no further use for it, he'd bought it second hand. But I found it time consuming and everything it sheredded was ending up in the "green bin" anyway. So I gave it to someone who had a better use for it.
We've only a small garden so any garden refuse we have can go in the green bin which is emptied weekly by the local council. If there's too much for any one week, a rare occurance, i've a neighbour who always has spare capacity in her bin available to me if I need it.
Most garden tasks could be considered time consuming and I certainly wouldn't buy either shredder or chipper if I wasn't going to make use of the results.
If you personally prefer to offer all green waste to your local council rather than using it in your garden, that's fine but I don't think that is what posters on this particular thread have in mind.
We have the lighter weight electric Bosch one bought about 15 years ago. We needed it for shredding hedge cuttings mainly and we used the chippings for wood paths. It's no good for green leafy stuff or twisted branches, likes straight thinnish brown branches best. It's fairly quiet. One thing to consider is where you will store it as it needs to be kept dry and under cover. Ours is kept in the shed. Unfortunately it's now heavier to lug in and out than I can cope with. We only use it maybe half a dozen times a year, if that as we replaced a very old, very long hedge with fencing a few years ago.,
@NorthernJoe we have the bigger of the Bosch shredders, medium sized garden, not loads of trees and shrubs but it gets a fair amount of use and I wouldn't want to go smaller. We chip most things fresh with leaves stripped first, with the exception of bamboo, which just spins around the crusher if it's not a bit crunchy. We use the chips either on paths or just chucked in the compost (breaks down well and is a good brown balance to the green grass mowings). We probably use it twice a year at most but it's made a huge difference to the ease of disposal of things that are too big for the compost. We wish we'd got it sooner.

my time again I would hire a larger one. But as I own this I feel compelled to use it.
