Food safe wood stain

We grow our veg in planters on legs to protect from rabbits. We’ve bought 2 new planters this year. They look a different colour to the old ones so I need to stain the whole lot. Any recommendations for a stain that doesn’t leech and is safe to use when growing organic veg? I also need the coverage to be quite thick so that the new ones look similar to the old. Thanks
