Small tree for shaded cool corner ?

Looking for a small tree for a shaded cool corner of small walled garden - wall is about 7 feet high, and corner gets no sun at all. Ideally something 'English' as house is C18th cottage. Would love something with spring interest - blossom maybe. Suggestions?

Rowan/ Mountain Ash; Silver Birch. You won't get very good blossom from anything in that position, unless you go for a bigger tree, but both the above will have lovely Autumn foliage. Good luck.

Silver birch grows way too big for a small garden. There are some pretty, small rowans, but if space is limited have a look for fastigiate (columnar) trees. There are cherry, amelanchier, crab apple  and rowan versions available, all good trees for small gardens, among others, and upward space is not usually limited :)

Have you thought about ornamental elder? I have both the black and golden varieties in shady positions and they are doing well. They are also very easy to prune and keep within a small space
