Yes, mine has a pivoting handle, but for a shortie like me the handle is at a shallower angle than it would be for a taller person, pushing the mower itself further away from my feet, so there's plenty of room for the box. Before my current mower I had a small electric one (given to us when we first moved in) that had the box on the front and I found it awkward and clumsy, but each to their own.
I guess it also depends on the garden layout. A box on front would be tricky if your grass went up to a wall I guess. But my grass is surrounded by beds so it probably makes no difference which I have.
My grass is also surrounded by beds but two of the grass areas are circles and the other is curved, so a front grass box tends to push over the edges of the beds and into the plants. If you have straight edges or only shallow curves, or only very low plants close to the edge of the border, it wouldn't be an issue.
