Need advise

Ive had a very bad year so far, I have had three attempts at sowing seeds of all varieties  flowers and veg and all failed.  I also purchased some Dahlia tubers and they have failed. I have used reputable seed merchants for the seeds and good compost. I thought the first failure was down to the snap frosts, then I used fleece to cover my planting. I had a few seeds pop their heads out then they failed to grow.  Any advise would be gratefully received.

many thanks
Jim

It's just been too cold for outside seed growing I think, at least it has been down here.
I'm not sowing my carrots, runner beans or peas until middle of May.

Thanks Lizzie27 I should have said these planting/sowings were in my greenhouse.
I will try some more later in the month.

    Cheers

Hello Jim where did you put them after sowing? And where do you live?

    Lizzie27 and Nanny Beach
Not heated placed covers over seed trays, I live in Birmingham, and placed the seed trays in large tay next to window.

Probably not quite warm enough then, especially next to a window overnight. You'll just have to keep on trying I'm afraid.

We are very behind with our sowing outdoors.
    We can't.
The seeds are now sown indoors (not our polytunnel but in the house) as the nightime temps have been and still are below freezing.
Broad beans, dwarf french beans, leeks, peas are the ones that we are trying to germinate indoors before planting out.
Can't even think think about beetroot, carrot...too cold.
In the polytunnel after sowing indoors we do have pak choi and hopefully again after sowing indoors we will get some kohlrabi.
