Stop Shrub Regrowth

edited May 2021 in Problem solving
We brought a property which had a small front garden with some kind of shrub in between the house and the wall.  I've since dug these out but although I thought I got most of the roots, they appear to slowly come back.

Is there anything I can use to quickly kill growth.  I just want to put some decorative stone down in the area with potted plants on top.  I'm not to worried about killing off the area.

Probably better to be sure the problems properly dealt with rather than a fast fix. Allow a decent amount of growth, spray with glyphosate (seems to work best in the morning, on a still, dry day ofc). Allow to go yellow and start to die off, then you can remove all the vegetation. May take a second treatment if you see further regrowth but that should be it.

Be very careful to spray on a very still day, no wind at all. While you might not have any plants around that you want to keep, your neighbours might have and won't want spray drift damaging their plants. If it's always breezy where you are, choose a gel formulation that you can apply precisely to your shrub regrowth.
