Rowan / Whitebeam - honey fungus

I would love to plant a Whitebeam  - Sorbus aria - but we have identified honey fungus close to where we'd like to put it. The Rhs list specifies Sorbus (Rowan) as frequently affected, but doesn't mention Sorbus aria. I don't really understand how closely related these trees are.  Google searching comes up with conflicting information - a couple of articles saying Whitebeam is unlikely to be affected but others listing honey fungus as a pest / disease to look out for. Has anyone any advice or experience that would help?
