Why doesn’t my star Jasmin flower.

I have a star Jasmin planted in a raised planter,  which is growing very well and looks healthy,  it has never flowered in 5 years.    It is in shade for part of the day,  could this be the problem.

I had star jasmine (Central TX zone 8b) on a fence at my last house that was half in full sun (and very hot summer temps) and the other half was under shade of a nearby pecan tree so it was nearly in full shade.  The jasmine was several years old and met in the middle.  Both ends of the plants bloomed from the first year on, but as one would expect, it bloomed more prolifically at the sunny end of the fence.  Perhaps feeding it would help?  I never fertilized mine that I can recall, as it bloomed very nicely without much help from me.  I did prune it often, as it was want to sprawl out into the grassy part of my lawn.  I might add my soil in this city is both alkaline and interspersed with clay (as well as being situated on a limestone plateau that runs through the state).  I know many areas of the UK have to deal with similar soil situations, so thought I'd mention that.

I have planted two pots of it to train up a pagoda support on my rear driveway that will be in full sun.  Never grew it in pots before, but it is happy and already blooming in its first season with me.  It's just in common potting mix.
