  They also prefer neutral to acid soil but do fine in containers - I do have one but mine is a yellow one with brownish streaks grown from seed

  I do prefer the blues and purples but have branched out into other colour with my bearded iris.  No flowers yet except on the established purples and whites.

  Vendée - 20kms from Atlantic coast.
