Vintage Waltons Greenhouse Query

Hi folks
i recently moved house and in the garden there is a wonderful old Waltons greenhouse. Photos attached. 
You’ll see that at the rear on the ground there are a couple of what seem to be basins. I’m a novice when it comes to this, so could anyone please explain what I should use them for? The obvious answer would be to store water but you’ll see there’s a kind of plug hole leading straight the the earth below. There’s also a plug hole connecting the two basins. 
Any thoughts much appreciated!!

    What beauty that greenhouse is  :)
    I'm wondering if there was a plug fitted originally. Maybe they were used to store water to keep it at "room temperature". Not sure why they're connected unless one is an overflow?

    I would imagine they are old sinks re-purposed as water holders and presumably had plugs in the bottom holes. Can't think what else they would be used for. Very odd, not seen those before.

    That is a gorgeous greenhouse. You want to make sure you treat and paint the wood and deal with any soft spots so it can last another 50 - 100 years. Unless you spend big you don t get a product like than anymore. All we got when we moved into our house was a rotten falling down shed that had been repurposed into a chicken coop with unwelcome residents living beneath it!

    Yes,so jealous,when you said basin,I didn't envisage an earthenware sink.oo would love one to wash the pots,wellies, garden tools, maybe even the dogs
