They come from Eastern USA where the winters are very cold, so they are completely hardy. Mine lives outdoors all year and is perfectly happy. Of course the leaves die down in winter but return in Spring.
I grow mine in full sun and water them with rainwater - tap water should only be used as a last resort. The pot is in a saucer which can be kept wet. They get all the nutrients they need from their victims so you should never feed them. Carnivorous plants grow in boggy conditions where nutrients are leached out of the soil, which is why they have evolved to catch flies etc.
Although they are hardy, like any young plant grown indoors, it will need hardening off by placing outside during the day and bring back in each night for a week to 10 days before you plant it.
A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.
