Not yer usual dahlia question

B3B3 Posts: 27,505
Does anyone know how dahlia growers dry their tubers for sale?
Is there anyway we could adapt the process for our own use?

No idea, but some do look very dehydrated, amazing really how they come back to life.

Yes. I potted a totally dedicated one and after a week, the tuber had rehydrated and a week later, it has sprouted.

No, I don't know, but I find them easy to store without drying.
  • Don't they just store them in sand or perlite? Presumably any over drying is a by product of being kept in storage for too long?
