All day mask wearing? With glasses?

  • Hopefully mask wearing will soon be a thing of the past...although I suspect it won't be as soon as I'd like.

I wonder how many will continue to wear one when it's optional. I can see it becoming habit forming in certain types of people. I know my local supermarket is leaving the screens around the tills permanently in place.

    Sorry for OT.

Well, apparently mask wearing has really cut down the incidence of flu this winter, so it could well be a good idea for those particularly susceptible as like most jabs the flu jab isn't 100%

We live near a university with quite a few East Asian students and many of them wear masks when in the city centre etc ... we've been quite used to seeing them for a number of years now.

Word of advice, don't wear most common brands of cycling masks. They are not suitable for covid purposes as they have a valve that opens to let your breath out unfiltered. They are almost as bad as wearing nothing of not worse because you may be jetting the virus further through the narrow valve than when breathing out in a wider outlet.

This also applied to proper, work PPE masks to the various standards if there's a plastic valve housing on it. There's many masks being sold for covid with such valves so it is up to everyone not to buy or use them for covid infection reduction. If it does reduce your risks it's potentially increasing other's risks.

You can buy various plastic and silicone forms for use with any mask to make them perform better. Ridiculous plastic cage things to pull the mask fabric away from contacting your face in the middle but probably more uncomfortable with them.

One interesting silicone form was for the edge of the mask on the nose. It lifts the fabric,  seals the gap and ducts the breath to the side away from glasses.  They're selling on amazon. I do wonder how well they work.
