CONIFER HELP!

Hi there,

last year we bought approx 50 new little conifers to create a hedge in our garden. Unfortunately after planting them around April time during the year they began to brown and crisp up and died.

We have now (during the winter whilst dormant) moved some smaller conifers we had and planted them where we want the hedge - round 2!

Again, they are now starting to turn brown and crispy in places, looks similar to last year. We are watering these daily/every other day.

Any help or advice to keep these alive would be good.

Are you over watering them?  Is the soil draining well enough.  Conifers don't like to grow in a bog.

What species of conifer are you talking about?  If you don't know, a picture would help give us a ballpark idea, even if not the exact specimen(s).

Perhaps there is some disease in the soil?
  • We water them a big drink once per week. I’m not sure how much is recommend. Also how would I test for a disease in the soil??

I will look to take a photo also.
