Planting chilli seeds

Evening all, I just received ‘cayenne purple and satans kiss’ chilli seeds... is it too late to plant them?

    Realistically I think it is
    They need an early start.
I sow end of Feb/early March in a heated propagator
You could try sowing a few and treat them as houseplants and they may produce some chilis much later in the year

  • @Pete.8 I did think it was a bit late. I mean these are patio chillies so I may get a bit lucky... I’ll do a couple of each and see how we go

I sowed a few Cayenne a few days ago ... worth a try ... we might get an Indian Summer (we deserve one after this long cold spring ... )

Not a single Padron germinated.  I started them in Feb and a second batch two weeks ago. I can’t bear the thought of us not having any this summer.   They always remind us of holidays in the Canaries and Madeira.

Our other chillies are doing well, but it’s only my OH who eats them.

As well as the Cayennes we're growing Hungarian Black for the first time ... apparently they're fairly mild but with a good flavour ... OH has discovered the fierce chillies upset his innards suffin chronic so DS and his friends got all our pickled very hot ones from last year.  Hopefully the Hungarian Blacks will be kinder but still be flavoursome.  I sowed them a while back and got almost 100% germination.
