Skimmia japonica

Can you help with this please. I was about to put this in the ground from its sheltered spot but it was dry. Really, really dry. All the bottom (and some top) leaves and some flowers fell off. What flowers that are left are all dried up. I've rehydrated it but wonder what to do now. Prune it? Plant it as is? I've never had one of these before so don't know what's best.

Get it in the ground and give it a good watering ideally rain water . I do find Skimmia fickle plants, best in part shade ( don't plant in full sun what so ever they go yellow ) sheltered from afternoon sun if possible in acidic soil, they will tolerate neutral soil and full shade.  I wouldn't bother pruning, they do produce berries pending if its male or female or even self fertile but I haven't come across a self fertile yet, removing the flowers will remove any potential berries .
