Lifting of bulbs for Winter.

We have been in lockdown for 15 months now, and during this time My husband has transformed our back garden into a host of Planters due to the fact we are not getting any younger and we find it much easier to weed. My question is, is it absolutely essential to lift every bulb before winter, for them to survive, or can they be left in situ, as there are over three hundred bulbs in all.?

Course it depends where you live, I don't lift any. I shove the flowered pots out of sight, give them a feed, let the leaves for back, and forgot about them till the following spring. Well done you they look great

If you have planted them deeply they might come back  some varieties return better than others.
Give them a liquid tomato feed a couple of times, take off the seed head and let everything die back. You can remove the dead leaves when they come away from the bulb easily.
This does mean that for several weeks your nice raised beds will look a bit tatty unless you have some perennials in there to grow up and hide the dying foilage.

It depends, I think. Most bulbs will be fine left in, but tulips aren't generally as good as other bulbs at coming back for a second year. If I were you I would feed them and leave them in and see how they do next year.
