Dandelion and weed issue on grass - pet friendly weed killer
Hi, new to this forum but am after some help if possible. Our grass seems to be infested with dandelions and weeds. About this time last year I removed all of the weeds I could se by hand, scarified the lawn and put seed down. Grass looked amazing!
now this year it seems the weeds are back with a vengeance! Maybe I didn’t dig them out well enough last year.
I think I need to put some weed killer down, but I can’t seem to find anything for the lawn that is pet friendly, I have 3 cats so needs to not be toxic to them.
does anyone have any suggestions or methods to rid me of this weed issue?

Getting dandelions out by hand is pretty impossible as you always seem to snap the root and of course it regrows.
I don't use weed killer but if you spray an area maybe you can fashion something to keep cats off but I would have thought most are safe once dry.

There are numerous threads on the forum which discuss lawn treatment so perhaps have a trawl thru and see if they answer your query.
Using weedkiller is always a personal choice as is the idea of a pristine lawn - with or without pets - if you choose the chemical route, most advice I think is to keep pets off the area until the weedkiller has completely dried but again, have a look at the threads relating to this issue to ensure safety
Buttercup is easy to pull, especially after rain when the ground is soft. Most other lawn weeds can be controlled by mowing and some, like clover and speedwell have useful flowers for pollinators and daisies are pretty.

If you do go for a weed and feed treatment read the labels on use and cautions about pets then choose the one that best suits your needs and keep the cats indoors as long as needed for it to work or be absorbed and dry.
