Advice please re: Lilac bush

Can I transfer my lilac bush (potted in container last summer) into the ground, and what   compost etc would be needed?  Thank you.

    As long as you can prepare the ground for it and are prepared to water regularly until it is established, you should be OK.
    If it is a permanent planting, the likes of JI 3 would be most suitable altho it can also depend on what your ground is like.

    Thanks for that.  is Autumn the best time to do this (plant in ground from pot)

    You can do it anytime much as you would a potted plant from the garden centre.
