    You'd lose the flowers as they do it on old wood and stems whereas group 2s and 3s can do it on new stems made that year.

    The problem is that the whole garden is surrounded by fence so it will always have the same problem. So there are not many other places to put it. 

    I was thinking perhaps I can just let it grow in a big pot and a small trellis against a wall and hope the pot will keep it reasonably sized?
