Contaminated compost?

Has anyone had any issues with 40 litre bags of Peat-Free All-Purpose Compost from The Growing Patch? The chilli's and tomatoes I've been growing from seed all got to about an inch and a half in height then stopped growing and turned yellow and the chilli's have now almost died right back. Now my runner beans are looking as though there's something wrong. The leaves are curling up and they look 'old and warty' is the best way I can describe them. They don't look like young new leaves. Having read about contaminated compost in GW over the last few months I'm wondering if this is a possible reason. Hopefully not, as I still have five bags of the stuff. Any comments from anyone who has used this compost would be gratefully received.

If the compost was contaminated then why would the seed have germinated in the first place and then suddenly died?

Are your seeds growing in a warm place? could they have got frosted in the last few weeks? watering too much?

True, one would think they wouldn't have germinated in the first place. The fact there are three different crops affected is concerning though.

They've either been in the house or an unheated greenhouse, never outside. Watering too much? I'm new to growing plants so it's possible. The compost can feel bone dry at/near the surface but a moisture meter shows it's still wet lower down. I think I'll get another brand of compost and see what happens with that.
