Cosmos flowering prematurely..?

I’ve grown some cosmos from seed (variety ‘Purity’) - one of them has now reached 6 inches tall and has produced a flower bud over the weekend while I was away.. it’s still such a small plant so I’m really surprised that it’s produced a flower bud.. should I pinch it off? They’re supposed to grow to 90cm tall but it’s nowhere near that yet.. is it normal for cosmos to flower prior to reaching maturity?

Here are some pics

My verbena has flowers and my tiny petunias are flowering I think it's because of its been so cold they are in the conservatory instead of the green house

Have you pinched the tips off the plants already. Cosmos will branch if you do this, giving a much better display.
How can you lie there and think of England

@punkdoc No I haven’t.. I was going to wait till they reach 20cm (they’re almost there) as that’s recommended by Sarah Raven.. i suppose I’ll do it now :)

Hi all - mini-thread resurrection - can we do a straw poll of when we pinch out cosmos seedlings - first time I'll have done this and this is what mine look like now.  They're Summer Sensation mix.
So - do it now, or wait?  Thanks!

I would pinch out now, take off the buds. It will bush them out.
