Ornamental Acer - Branches dying

My Ornamental Acer has branches that have dried and died over the last couple of years.

It is 4 years old and stands at just under 2 metres high.

It is planted in the garden.

It's been a tough few years for acers as they don't like the extremes of weather we've been getting. Cold springs, long dry spells at various times of the year and very cold winds will all cause a bit of die back. Make sure you feed and mulch in the spring and keep them well watered during dry periods and that will help them build up resilience.
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.

They don't like a lot of sun either

Just snip off the dead ends. I do that every year to mine.

I trim bits like yours as and when I see them. They are best spotted now and usually snap off easily as they are dry and brittle.
