Tree/Shrub suggestions for container

We’ve stumbled across sone old terracotta pots in the garden one around 30cm in diameter and same in height, and the other around 25cm in diameter and 40cm in height which we’re keen to plant a decorative tree/shrub in and place near a door and looking for suggestions.

Looking for something with a bit of height, year round interest and some thing for the pollinators (and something that fits with a country garden) if possible.

Most likely be placed in a position which east to south east facing.

Can you suggest anything that might be suitable?

    Daphne transatlantica eternal fragrance.
    Evergreen and smells lovely in bloom. This particular type of daphne is meant to bloom for a long time. It’ll do ok in a small pot for a few years.
    Alternatively  lavender would be lovely but doesn’t look great in winter.

    I would be wary of siting a Daphne on the east,where it could get frost then sun or south facing.I would suggest Pittosporum,we have Tobirra, and unfortunately label has come off the others, they are ever green and the others have tiny mauve scented flowers just coming out now

    Thanks for the suggestions...is there anything a with more of a tree shape/structure that we can plant?

    What about a variegated holly? They are slow growing, look good all year round, have red berries and don't need much upkeep.

    Those pots are too small for shrubs or trees IMHO.  I wouldn't consider planting one in less than 60cms deep and wide and bigger for a tree?
