What is eating my Stipia?

I have 2 stipia grasses that I planted last year and they were lovely and doing fine.  Over the last week something has eaten them.  It looks like they have just been cut off with scissors, there’s just a tuft left sticking up.
I was wondering if it was my dog!! Any suggestions?
P.S there are no rabbits anywhere near.

It may be your dog - mine is fond of a Carex in my garden
Dogs generally eat soft grasses especially fresh new tender Spring foliage

I think Pete might be right.  Our puppy loves to chew on some of our grasses (usually the Calamagrostis), and likes to rip out bits of our Stipa and Cortaderia.

Thank you for you replies.  I think it must be my dog.  He is always eating grass.... what with drought and frost and now my apparently vegetarian dog... honestly, I’m destined not to be a gardener I’m sure!!
