What is this waxy stuff in my raised bed?

I keep finding clumps of lumpy solid waxy stuff in my raised bed - I wasn't too bothered all the time I could dig it out and chuck but this piece was attached to a seedling so it's a bit more of an issue. What is it?

It’s the fruiting body of a fungus that is breaking down all that lovely organic matter in your raised beds and turning it into a form that can be accessed by the roots of your plants.

Nothing to worry about ... in fact it’s good stuff.

In a few days it’ll have rotted away into the soil and disappeared.

  • Oh I'm disappointed I threw some away now! Shall I pop it back on the bed then?
